About Tutor Mia

Mia has been a passionate student of music for most of her life, beginning at Sydney Children Choir in 2015 and carrying on her music education into the later years of high school where she excelled in HSC music. She teaches classical harp, and all styles of ukulele, as well as having a background in music theory, singing and music history which she brings to all aspects of her teaching.

Mia enjoys celebrating and cultivating the passion of her students and encourages a curious approach to musical studies. She applies her teaching in a way that nurtures the ‘whole musician’ so that the areas of performance, self-directed learning, theory, and technique are all equally strong. Mia helps her students become passionate about their instrument and confident in their abilities, improve their technique and eventually build a performance-ready repertoire. She also acknowledges that different people have different learning styles, especially depending on the stage of learning they’re in.

Mia aims to accommodate all player’s needs, young or old, and find effective methods to improve practising habits and enjoyment of the craft overall whether that be jumping between pieces to maintain interest or following a more regimented practice approach.

She would love to help you work on learning your favourite songs but is also very happy to recommend fun new pieces and uncharted challenges. Jamming out and having fun mixed with dedicated technique work and some passionate discussion is her ideal approach to a lesson.

Mia looks forward to meeting you and bringing the joy of music to your home!
