About Tutor Ben T

Ben is a drummer and versatile musician who is very passionate about teaching music to school-age kids. He believes in mentoring his students in proper musical technique while making the music they enjoy, and also developing lifelong skills of confidence, creativity and learning to learn.

Ben is able to teach pop, rock, jazz, hip-hop and funk, and RʼnʼB styles of drums. His lessons cover fundamental drumming skills, such as proper drumming technique, learning to develop timing and rhythm, and reading sheet music. Ben is very familiar with primary and high-school music ensembles. He is keen to help kids become better at both their practical musical skills and musicianship as a band member.

Ben has played and performed the drums for over 8 years in numerous ensembles and bands. He also plays electric bass, electric and acoustic guitar, piano/keys, and ukulele. He enjoys learning anything music related and is strong in music theory. In his spare time, he records and produces his own music.

He plays with Jazz Workshop Australia and has been mentored by highly regarded jazz musicians such as John Morrison and Saul Richardson. He has also performed with Eastwood Uniting Church Musical Society, competed in Ryde Eisteddfod, and serves with his church band regularly.

Ben provides drum lessons from his home studio in Ryde and travels between suburbs in the North Shore, Parramatta and Ryde including:

  • Granville
  • Epping
  • Roseville
